Privacy Policy

How LegalKB collects, uses, and protects your information.

Last reviewed on April 27, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how LegalKB ("LegalKB", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you visit legalkb.com. We have written it in plain English so you can tell what is happening with your data without having to read like a lawyer.

1. Scope and the short version

This policy applies to legalkb.com and to any subdomain we operate. It does not apply to third-party sites we link to.

The short version: LegalKB is an information site. We do not require you to register, log in, or create a profile to read any page. The data we end up handling comes mostly from your browser (standard server logs), from the analytics tools we run, and from the advertising networks we use to keep the site free.

2. What we collect

Information collected automatically

When you visit, your browser sends standard request information that we (or our hosting and CDN providers) record in server logs:

Information collected through cookies and tags

Our analytics and advertising partners place cookies and similar identifiers in your browser. The data they collect is described in section 4 and the Cookie Policy.

Information you provide voluntarily

If you email us at one of the addresses on the contact page, we receive whatever you choose to include in that message. We also receive any data you submit to the calculators on the site, but those tools run entirely in your browser — we do not store calculator inputs on our servers.

3. How we use it

We process the data above to:

Under GDPR, our legal bases for processing are: legitimate interests (running and improving the site, basic security), consent (where required for non-essential cookies and personalised advertising), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a site or one of its partners stores in your browser. We use a small number of cookie categories:

You can refuse or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Refusing cookies will not break LegalKB, but it may make the ads you see less relevant. The Cookie Policy explains the categories in more detail and includes opt-out links.

5. Google AdSense and advertising

LegalKB displays ads served by Google AdSense, a service operated by Google LLC. To display these ads, Google and its ad-tech partners may set cookies, read existing cookies, and use device identifiers in your browser. Together, these technologies allow Google to:

Google's use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick / Google ad cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings. You can opt out of personalised ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.com (EU/UK).

Google's own privacy practices are described in the Google advertising policies and Google Privacy Policy. If you are in a jurisdiction with consent requirements (such as the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), Google's consent management tools will ask for your permission before serving personalised ads.

Some advertisers are third-party vendors participating in Google's ad network. A current list of these vendors and their privacy policies is available through Google's certified ad-technology providers.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are read, how readers arrive, how long they stay. Analytics cookies do not identify you by name. Where applicable, we enable IP anonymisation. Analytics data is retained for the period set in our Google Analytics property (currently 26 months) and then deleted.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking analytics cookies in your browser, or by withdrawing consent through any consent banner shown on the site.

7. Third-party services we use

The site relies on a small number of third-party services to function and to fund itself:

Each of these providers is independently responsible for the data it collects. Their privacy policies govern that data, and we link to them where applicable.

8. When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:

9. How long we keep data

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, including HTTPS for all traffic, restricted administrative access, and use of reputable hosting and analytics providers. No internet transmission is ever 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information has been collected, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for monetary value, but the use of advertising cookies described in section 5 may qualify as "sharing" under California law. To opt out, use the controls described in section 5 and adjust your browser cookie preferences.

To exercise any right, email privacy@legalkb.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically 30 days under GDPR, 45 days under CCPA).

12. Children

LegalKB is intended for adult readers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions that apply that threshold). If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact privacy@legalkb.com and we will delete it.

13. Do Not Track and global signals

We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable to opt out of the "sharing" of personal information for personalised advertising. We do not currently respond to legacy Do Not Track headers, since they have no agreed meaning across the industry.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for a reasonable period.

15. Contact

For privacy questions or to exercise any of the rights above, email privacy@legalkb.com. For general questions, see the contact page.
